The 2011 Awards for Environmental Excellence will celebrate thought leadership and innovation in sustainability. They will recognise the projects and products that are delivering real progress and highlight them as examples which can inspire others to raise their game.
Blasting through the “green-wash” and illuminating the stars of our industry the ever popular edie awards are now in their fifth year.
Our judges – all of whom are leading lights in the green sector, include sustainable construction champion Dr Peter Bonfield chief executive of BRE and Liz Parkes the Environment Agency's head of climate change (from April 1st) and TV presenter, author and eco-pioneer Joanna Yarrow.
The awards have traditionally been split into two categories, celebrating the best environmental projects and the most respected consultants working in the sector.
However, this year the awards are open to not just projects but also to the huge range of environmental products - from the smallest green inventions to internationally recognised brands which have changed the way we live and work on a daily basis.
Launching later in the year, the 2011 Consultancy awards are collated by an approved independent agency who poll a cross section of the environmental community to find who they consider to be the best consultancy working in the UK and European market today. All their views are collated anonymously to shortlist the winners in this coveted category.
It has now been two years since the Awards for Environmental Excellence received their RSA accreditation – one of the few environmental awards recognised by the scheme. As such winners in the edie awards have the opportunity to go forward to the coveted European Business Awards for the Environment, here they will fight it out with the best European projects for the opportunity to win on the international stage.
